Tech Tuesday #13: Under The Mistletoe

Ryo here, been spending the last week in what seems a nearly constant level grind on Borderlands. Still that won’t stop me from taking a breather to sit down and dig through the usual foray of news. Anyone enjoy last week’s video? 😛

With advances in science and technology happening so often anymore, we get to see some of the early fruits of those advancements. I’m sure if you play any amount of video games you’ve heard about motion controlling being the next big thing. Without going into a discussion about why I really don’t think it is, we can however go into a discussion about why muscle controllers are something that can be the next big thing. The demo of this new type of controller has the creator jamming out on Guitar Hero. Pretty impressive for fairly new tech wouldn’t you say? Hit the link for more details and a video.

Who wants an LED screen embedded into their skin? Sounds a bit odd when just left at that, but there is an organization, Boffins, that is working on developing a “flexible, biodegradable electronic devices printed on silk.” One such device that is planned is an LED display that can be implanted under the skin. That sort of device would open up quite a few new possibilities. Thinking along the lines of medical uses, this could potentially be devised as a way to monitor various vital signs of a patient. If you want a consumer application…you could have a really cool tattoo or maybe a watch that would be very noticeable if you lost it? Sky’s the limit really.

Okay, I was going to talk about what Paramount Studios is doing in the news….but after thinking it over, no. Just no. I will state this: I fully support Net Neutrality and if given the chance I would corner my state representatives to discuss with them the importance of passing a bill for it. I don’t want my internet censored, ever.

Going to end this with something a bit for those feeling the holiday spirit, and no…no tech in it this time either. This video is one sent to me by my good buddy l Doctor Who l on XBL. I had a good laugh, and hopefully you guys will as well. See you next week.
