Tech Tuesday #16: Phase Two

Afternoon everyone, Ryo here with a bit of a late post due to a few reasons. Nothing important enough to go into here though. Completely unrelated as to why Tech Tuesday was delayed today…the Borderlands DLC dubbed Zombie Island was launched in the wee hours of the morning. Did I mention Left 4 Dead 2 is an awesome time waster? Right then, moving away from speculations.

Flipping through my news reader today, I noticed a bit of a trend going. Google is making headlines everywhere for various things, but really is anyone surprised about that anymore? I gotta admit, hearing about Google and TiVo partnering up to do some research of people’s viewing habits did make me do a bit of a double take though. Seems Google believes that it is worth taking a look into just how much of a commercial people end up seeing as they push that wonderful little fast forward button. Just because I feel in a bit of a spiteful mood today, I’m going to play an episode of House M.D. while I type the rest of this that has had the commercials stripped out of it. Take that Google. 😛

Most of you will get a chuckle out of the fact that the man dubbed as the “Godfather of Spam” has been sentenced to four years in prison. Research into Alan Ralsky’s operation turned up a bit of a surprise. The man ran the whole operation like a legitimate business. Most of his victims were conned into trading stocks in companies that really weren’t on the radar. This little scheme spanned world wide and raked in millions for Ralsky’s little team. Good riddance as far as I’m concerned.

Apple has released an interesting translation app. It uses a picture of your lips to make them speak in three other languages. Unfortunately, I can’t give any personal reviews on the app due to Sprint not carrying the iPhone (yet) but this thing looks like a very interesting way to absolutely make fun of yourself for being a tourist. Hey, we all have to laugh at ourselves now and then right?

Time for me to sign off for the week, but I think before that I will leave you with an interesting video that was discovered by a friend of mine. It still impresses me how much work went into this video, so enjoy the 8-Bit Trip.
