Big news for 343 Industries and Halo

Microsoft has released information about Halo Waypoint getting a HUGE update and added content coming very soon. There’s many new things to talk about, so make sure you’re sitting down… you may be standing…or dancing by the end of this.

First off, yesterday, a very large number of Avatar items have made their way to the Marketplace. If you’ve been playing the crap out of Reach and have unlocked the multitude of helmets available for your SPARTAN, then now you can purchase one for your Avatar. Alongside those helmets are Grifball items, popular RvB shirts, and a Flood Infection form prop (just so you can creep your digital self out, too).

Next up, today, Halo Waypoint received a nice fat update which should make it smoother and faster, plus adding the ability to launch the “Games on Demand” version of Halo: Reach directly from Waypoint. But that’s not all… For the first time TODAY, Waypoint now offers the ability to view your Halo: Reach stats! You can also Compare stats with those on your friends list, What’s better than that? What? OH! You can also get these same features on the Windows Phone 7 with their Halo Waypoint App! *Grumbles for a moment (I have an iPhone)… Puts hand to earpiece to listen* OK, this just in… It appears that a trailer for the Halo Evolutions’ Motion Comic, “The Mona Lisa” has also surfaced… Awesome! update, motion comic

“The Mona Lisa” will be available for Waypoint on Xbox LIVE, Windows Phone 7, and on the web when it premieres next Saturday, April 23rd. The Halo Waypoint Update is ready to download now, if you haven’t already done so…

Before I close, I want to mention that Twitter lit up today over some Hype about this years’ Penny Arcade Expo (PAX {Prime}). This is directly from the Press Release:

“We’ll just say this for now: if you’re a fan of “Halo,” the “Halo” community, and celebrations in general, this is the year to attend the Penny Arcade Expo Prime in Seattle on Aug. 26, 27 and 28, where you can help us celebrate 10 years of “Halo” in a very special way. Follow Twitter.com/HaloWaypoint for all your “Halo” information and breaking news about “Halo” at PAX Prime. For more information about PAX Prime, please visit http://prime.paxsite.com/index.php.”

We’re all excited to see what’s to come. We hope to be there when everything goes down. *crosses fingers*
