I know I’m a tad late, but this is worth showing again…. and again…

343i is taking Halo 4 multiplayer to a whole new level ; adding what will be known as

“Halo Infinity”

Caine’s Arcade gets Flashmobbed

I intended to post info about Mass Effect 3′s Resurgence pack today but I saw this video and thought it just HAD to be shown.

9 year old Caine Monroy, built an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store. Caine’s first Fun Pass customer helps organize the best day of his life.

I have to admit, it made me laugh and cry at the same time. The video explains everything. Watch it!

Wanted: A Little Personality

Movin’ on up!

Hmmm… where to begin? Where to begin? Well… I was recently promoted at work from Lab Specialist to Associate Course Director. Besides getting a sweet pay bump I was also given a desk. I have a phone, with my own extension! I’ll soon have a name plate, and business cards! What once felt like the beginning of the end of a relationship, now feels like love rekindled. I work closely with a team full of energetic, fun, and incredibly genuine people. Did I mention they gave me a desk? I did. Well good. Let’s talk about said desk, cause that’s what this post is really about anyway.

What could be more exciting to an artist than a blank canvas? Oh the possibilities! Getting a desk was one of the things I was most looking forward to, which is incredibly ironic because I have NO IDEA what to do with it. I come to work everyday and stare at my desk before I sit down and then again before I leave. I make rounds around the office to see what others have done. I try and take note of the cool and geeky ways people have represented themselves. I admire the photos, the calendars, posters, and drawings. Then I walk back to my lonely lifeless desk.

Decorate My Desk

“You have a phone, a monitor, shelves, a file cabinet, a chair….what could you possibly be missing?” Personality! That’s what it’s missing! With that being said, I’m opening it up to you, dear internet. What kind of things should I have at my desk? It would obviously have to be suitable for work but I’m taking submissions and suggestions!

Just to set some ground rules, here’s what kind of stuff I’m looking for:

Hilarious photo memes worthy of representation
Amazing Photoshop creations
Awesome illustrations
Photos: I’m willing to accept photos of people but ONLY if they are accompanied with an awesome story. i.e. “This is a picture of the time I climbed Mount Everest.” OR “This is a picture from our World of Warcraft wedding.” The better the story behind the shot the more likely I’ll pick it. This is partially for my own entertainment but mostly so I can explain why I have pictures of random people at my desk.
Game industry swag from conferences, conventions or companies.

OK nobody invited you to the Fun Bus… and look, you done mixed up quotes… It’s not even supposed to be about quotes! jeez…Let’s just get to the point…

Nathan Fillion’s 41st Birthday just passed and he tweeted one wish, and it was for a $1. Yes, one dollar. He asked his adoring fans and friends to contribute one dollar to My Charity Water – an organization dedicated to helping nearly 1 billion people who do not have access to clean drinking water to get it. Watch the vid for an explanation…

Majority of those who contributed helped out more than what he’d asked; we did. Now, from what I can see, in five days time he has already met his goal… But, I have a new goal for you. There are 86 days left. Let’s make it count and double it, heck, TRIPLE IT! Nathan isn’t asking us to do this for him. This is for those who are in this crisis. Ever get smashed in the face by a brute and wanna get some heated revenge? Yeah, Me too! Now’s the time…

BioWare has announced this weekend as it’s first ME3 Multiplayer challenge weekend starting tonight at 5:00 PM PST(2 hours ago) and run until 5:00 AM PST Monday morning. Details are as follows…

During the above specified “Challenge time” Each team to successfully extract from a SILVER challenge against the Reapers will be awarded a “Commendation pack” which will guarantee a random weapon from the Single Player Campaign Exclusive (Now no longer…) N7 Arsenal (N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7 Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle).

Now to make things a little bit more Rewarding… if the ENTIRE community kills 1 MILLION Brutes over this weekend’s “Challenge Time”, BioWare will award each and every one of us a free “Victory Pack.” Contents of this pack have not been fully disclosed. FULL DETAILS ARE GIVEN HERE, and I SUGGEST YOU READ THEM!

Not only do I want to get in on the N7 weapons, but I’m curious to see what will come in this “Victory Pack”, so let’s get to killing them Brutes!

Screenshot Sundays in Danger

Last week I came across an announcement on B.net stating they are no longer going to be hosting Halo related material after March 31, 2012.

No Halo

When Bungie finally announced that they were releasing Halo to Microsoft, I had a sadface. I could imagine this was like giving birth to a child, raising it passed cognitive development, then giving it to another home. Now what this image above says to me is that Bungie is now putting all documents and photos in a shoebox in storage… Only to be found in the future… bringing fond memories… and crying.

I have over 100 Screenshot Sundays posted with links that lead to Bungie’s archive. I’ve asked around to find out if these links will still be active behind the scenes, but have had no definitive answer surface. So, in fear of having to remove every single link after next month I will not be posting Screenshots until I work this issue out. I will leave them up and re-link to the rooted files. I’ll keep the links up, but will no longer be trying to find shots from their site. I’m not going to poke at a wound they are trying to heal.

MEGACON!!!

Every time I hear, say, or see MEGACON… I hear it in the voice from the radio commercials… If you haven’t heard it, you’re missing it. Penny Arcade needs to get that guy on their shit. I can hear it now… PENNY ARCADE EXPO *echos*

This year was my first visit to MegaCon. I volunteered for it. I WORKED the entire time I was there. I had no time to actually enjoy it… and I can say I had MORE fun doing Crowd Control than the time I spent at MLG. Do you understand that? To some that’s absolutely absurd… To me, it was amazing.

Don’t ask about the MLG event… I meant to write a post about that, but realized it would have been nothing but negative words for it. Don’t get me wrong, I met some wonderful people there (i.e. Randall Wong, Stan Press, Zach Wigal, and BravoMLG), but the event itself left a little bit more to be desired…

I’ve been to PAX twice, but that’s centered around gaming… Now MegaCon was something else. It had gaming related stuff there, but as you all know it is centered around comics. I haven’t been to ComicCon yet, but I imagine it’s like a miniature one of those.

As I said previously, I volunteered for this event. I didn’t have the money to put up and I’ve volunteered for Otronicon before, so I figured I’d help out… get some more good deeds under my belt. Now, I understood that I was there to work, but this was a whole new ball game. I was put in charge of Crowd Control; The line to get purchase tickets. Friday wasn’t so bad… but I was NOT aware of what Saturday had in store for me. Friday was cool, the line looped around a long hall twice. Saturday? Looped the hall three times, went out the door and into the main lobby to the far back of the building, came back to the front door, serpentined 6 times across the lobby, then went all the way to the other side of the West Concourse building… Yeah. AND I did that shit with only one person helping me from the start. But, I didn’t let it beat me. I took charge of the situation and HANDLED IT. I lost my voice, killed all of my muscles, and left draggin ass, but I managed to come out on top.

“I thought you said you had fun?!” you say? Well, that was NOT my fun. After I made sure that line disappeared, I was then assigned to do crowd control for Mark Meer in the Star Signing area. Don’t you DARE think, “Who’s Mark Meer?” If you’re a gamer you should know who this guy is…

I’ll give you a hint…

Now, playing rent-a-bodyguard for the voice of Commander Shepard was no joke, but there were voice actors there from Anime that had lines like the ticket line. I had to go back and forth for Mark and Todd Haberkorn (Hetalia: Axis Powers), then Chris Sabat (Dragon Ball series: Vegeta, Piccolo-also the Halo Wars tutorial instructor) as well. I had helped with Laura Bailey (also Rayne from Bloodrayne and Alicia Valera from Gears of War 3) and Travis Willingham (also Sergei Krozin of CoD:Black Ops and Guile from the most recent Street Fighter games)of Full Metal Alchemist too, but didn’t interact with them as much…

As I said, most of my time was spent corralling humans and making sure they did’t cut or disrupt everyone else. When I had an opportunity I made sure to snap a few pictures of cosplayers roaming around the front lobby. I wanted to be able to share some of the awesomeness I saw there. So, all of the pictures I took are on our Flickr. As a heads up, there are a few that were taken after I had left the convention center (explaining the Belly Dancer and night club shots…).

Night Club? Yes! Night Club….. On the Saturday of the event, flyers were passed around advertising something called “Arkham Nights”. All the cool people said they were going and I wanted to see this for myself, so…. I went. Backstage night club in the Rosen Plaza Hotel hosted an Arkham themed party. They had Joker cards hanging from the ceiling, every employee was dressed as a different villain, Batman was pegged to a throwing knife/axe board, and EVERYTHING was themed around a party in the heart of the Arkham Asylum. This party was seriously badass! Even the MegaCon owner showed up and spent some dough.
I got a few shots while in there… but it was a dark, foggy night club…. I didn’t get much.

So, with all the awesome that came out of that weekend, I told the Volunteer Director that I’d be back next year. He thanked me for my awesome service and made me write my email address in his “Special” notes for the rockstar volunteers. Yes, I was one of the more respected workers this year, and I’m very proud of that.

If you plan on checking out MegaCon next year, be sure to find me! I’m almost certain I’ll be wearing one of those bright neon yellow shirts again…
