Atlantis 9 Wedding Documentaries

Atlantis 9 is filming our Halo wedding. The radtastic founders of the company are Caleb Morgan (Full Sail Film Graduate), Keith Roddy (Full Sail Film Graduate), and Vincent Brig (Full Sail Game Design & Development Graduate). They use their backgrounds in film, marketing, and creative design to create wedding documentaries. Their style is new and edgy, and it takes all the cheesiness out of their work. Even though they’re a newer company, Atlantis 9 is already partnered with Universal Studios. They are also the preferred vendor for companies in Florida such as The Disney Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Hilton, Perfect Wedding Guide, etc. Atlantis 9 only films HD and they have great options, which is why we picked them for our wedding. They rock!

Check them out at www.atlantis9.com

Additionally they have been slaving away trying to put together a few short videos for us. We’re hoping these will provide a bit of insight to those interested. You can check those out on our youtube page.

P.S. They’ve got gamertags if you’d like to add them to your friends list.

AMMIH Wedding Invitations

AMMIH Official Save The DateSince the magnet part of our Save The Date has been floating around the web, I thought I’d upload a picture of the whole thing. The envelopes were sealed with a return address sticker.

I’ve also been getting a lot of requests to see the invites so I finally uploaded those pictures to the AMMIH Flickr as well.

evilcharismatic (my bridesmaid), PsychoVandal and I were able to set up an assembly line at my dinner table. Psycho cut, evil glued the trifold part of the invitations and applied adhesive to the seals, while I pasted them and licked the envelopes shut. We were able to knock out 110 invitations in 2 days; 50 pink, and 60 blue. The pink ones contained our real names and went out to my family. The blue ones with our gamertags went out to everyone else.

When searching around for invitation wording I noticed many of them started with cute little wedding limericks. “And on this day I will marry my friend…” blah blah blah, yaddy yaddy yadda. After reading what seemed like a million of them, I decide the only way I’d be happy is if I made up my own. Here is what I came up with:

November Ninth
The year two thousand four
AMMIH Wedding Invitation (Blue)Marked a day in history
Few could ignore

Two individuals
That played Xbox that night
Were destined to experience
Love at first fight

AMMIH Wedding Invitation Envelope (Blue)They felt an attraction
They couldn’t explain
United in part
By their love for the game

Silently wishing
They could be teammates for life
They’ll soon be pronounced
Husband and wife

*the stanzas got a little screwy cause I tossed the photos in there, but you get the point.

Opening up the folds reveals the actual invitation underneath. Both pink and blue pocketfold envelopes were affixed with a seal. Our return address was screen printed on the back of each outer envelope with coordinating ink color.

AMMIH 10 Point Break Down For the Lazy

After reading some of the things being said about us on the Internet, I realized several key points were being missed. I’ve put together this list for those too lazy to read the full MTV article.

  1. We MET on Xbox Live while playing Halo 2.
  2. Dramamine helps prevent symptoms of motion sickness (i.e. dizziness, nausea, and vomiting)
  3. Her gamertag is SickNdehed
  4. We will be having a ‘real’ Halo Themed wedding. (Still wondering why? Please refer to point #1)
  5. We have already met in person.
  6. We are gamers and enjoy a multitude of games besides Halo.
  7. Your Full Sail tuition is NOT paying for our wedding.
  8. We still believe in the sanctity of marriage.
  9. The ceremony will NOT end in “You may now teabag the Bride.”
  10. No, we couldn’t have picked another/better game (again, refer to point #1)

You may now resume flaming.

Now For The Exciting News

Yesterday was a day filled with much excitement. For the first time in months we were finally able to disclose some of the details surrounding our wedding. It will be taking place on January 17, 2009 at the Orlando Science Center during the Full Sail sponsored Otronicon event.

Stephen Totilo from MTV’s Video Games News Channel will be covering our story in the following weeks leading up to the wedding. The first post was published yesterday. If you haven’t read it yet please be sure to check it out.

‘Halo’ Wedding Planned By Two Video Game Fans; Master Chief Will Officiate

Yes, These Two People Are Planning A Halo Wedding

Additionally, they caught wind of the A Match Made In Halo story at Halo.Bungie.org which is how ‘With This Ring’ ended up on Bungie.net!! WHOA!

We’ve also been getting tons of hits from KonsoliFIN a website in Finland. Unfortunately the article is in Finnish so I have no idea what it says. However, thanks to my super human stalking powers and the Xbox Gamertag messaging system I was able to get in touch with the article’s author. Hopefully I’ll have an English translation for that sometime soon! In the meantime, anyone who knows Finnish can read it here:

The First Halo Wedding Will Be Held In January

Thank you everyone for all the support!

Sarcastic Gamer Fundraiser

On October 18th, 2008 PsychoVandal and I participated in a 24 hour gaming marathon to help raise money for Pediatric Cancer. The event organized by Sarcastic Gamer and the Texas Children’s Hospital raised a grand total $115,000.

Joining us on the A Match Made In Halo team was Xx Instyle76 xX, MotorKing Mike and (mystery man) Kevin Greer. Together we were able to raise $282.

Our marathon morning/afternoon consisted of playing several games on the Wii. After the little one was in bed, three of us spent the rest of the night playing Halo 3. Around 1:00 a.m. EST we were happily joined by LeftyBrown (from The Married Gamers) who was broadcasting everything live on UStream.

We had tons of fun and were happy to game for a good cause.

Be sure to check out my Team killing fucktard video and our DLC Big Team game on Sandtrap before you go.

A Toenail Rippin’ Fall

WARNING: May induce vomiting. Reader discretion is advised.

It was a rainy Monday afternoon. PsychoVandal, my brother and I were lounging on the couch watching Season 1 of Heroes. Season 3 would be starting soon and my brother expressed interest in watching the entire series.

There was a knock at the door which immediately got my hopes up. I had only been waiting for one thing; my magnetic Save The Dates. I signed my name on the dotted line and quickly ran back in to rip open the package. To my relief, it was exactly what I had been expecting. I smiled as I held all 100 business card sized magnets, all shiny and new.

How was I going to package them? – something I hadn’t given much thought to. I ran to the computer and began playing in Photoshop. A designed post card I could attach the magnet to would do. That, of course , would get slipped into an envelope and voila! my save the dates would be done.

After putting together about 10 of them we decided to go show them off to our friends. Psycho waited for me in the car while I grabbed a few more things. I later stepped outside and not wanting to get the envelopes wet, I tucked them under my shirt. As I walked across the wet grass I slipped. This is where everything started happening in slow motion. I tried to regain my balance and failed. My legs slid under the car, I was on my ass, stunned.

I couldn’t bring myself to get up right away. I think after a certain age tripping and falling isn’t as easy to recover from (“I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!”). Vandal quickly jumped out of the driver’s seat to help me.

“What happened?” he asked as if it weren’t obvious. I bent my knees in an effort to get up. It was then that I noticed. The second toenail on my left foot was standing at a 75 degree angle, almost perpendicular to my toe. “Like a car with the hood up” my brother would later describe it. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. A Stir of Echoes quickly came to mind.

Forgetting I had been holding something under my shirt, I stood up. All the save the dates fell into the puddle I was sitting in. It was then I started to cry. I made no effort to catch the falling envelopes.  Luckily, Vandal’s reaction time was ten times my own. He managed to snatch them up with minimal damage but it didn’t matter. I felt completely defeated.

He helped me limp back inside so we could examine my toe. “Get the camera” I said. “No one is going to believe this.” The next half hour consisted of me taking pictures of my foot at different angles. I wasn’t sure what else to do. Do I rip of the nail completely, or try taping it down with a band aid? Was this worth going to the hospital for? I called InStyle76 who had trouble listening to my story. He suggested I tape it down and ended our phone call with “I’m going to go throw up now.”

I imagined taping the nail down would produce the best results. Maybe it would heal and my nail would reattach itself. What did I know? I tried to flip my nail down several times. The hood on my car of a toe refused to stay down. I had to rip it off. The job was already mostly done, cuticle and all. It remained attached by a thin thread of skin. My hands were shaking, probably from the adrenaline. I eventually pulled it off, and as they say, the rest is history.

That was 3 weeks ago. I can finally walk without limping, and no longer feel like a part of me is missing. Though, I haven’t brought myself to wearing shoes yet. I wonder if It’ll grow back in time for the wedding. Will it grow in strange and deformed? I guess we’ll see.
