Ryo here again, title will get explained later and yes I realize I am starting a pattern. Let’s just jump right into the world of tech and take a look-see shall we?
One of my all time favorite sites to browse for the various flavors of gadgets being released is no surprise as being Engadget. Have their RSS feed on my iGoogle home page. Now once in awhile I stumble across something fairly interesting or just downright hilarious. Such as last week’s Palm Pre commercial. Today, from the confines of Engadget’s site I bring you none other than…pancakes. No joke. The delicious breakfast food with nearly limitless options for toppings. Why do I bring you pancakes as the first topic of today? Because someone has made a pancake machine, obviously with restaurants and the like in mind but still the pancake lover with $3,500 to throw around can obtain one. If you want to see a picture of this inherently awesome piece of equipment spitting out one of our beloved breakfast foods, check out the original posting right over here: Chefstack on Engadget.
Let’s see what else I can dig out of my goodies bag…there have been more rumors at the possibility of a new 8 Gig iPhone 3GS surfacing. As of right now, still slated as a rumor and some write it off as a typo though so don’t get your hopes up just yet though I am certain they will eventually release an 8 Gig model or more. Well, unless we all get the 4G network across the board then we may not see it.
Just to pull away from doing anymore of this post about new phone details, which there are a ton of on Engadget for those unaware, I did stumble across something I found really cool and a great example of technology being used to benefit the life of a human being by overcoming a disability. For quite some time, people have relied on hearing aids to help them when their sense of hearing got to a point they couldn’t completely discern the sounds of the world without a little help. While they work fairly well, a new type of hearing aide has been developed that, if it works as planned, will blow everything else away. It is a bone anchored hearing aide that adjusts to the noise of the environment of the person who is using it. They are a tad pricey currently ($12,000 for a pair) but that is to be expected with any new technology. Possibly one of the most random features they could have added into these things? You can hook them into an MP3 player.
Now comes the time for me to wrap things up. This one is a bit off of the ordinary, but I found it humorous and it came with a video to watch. I probably would have passed this over if not for the fact I happened to notice Ubuntu Linux being mentioned in the article associating the video. I am a huge fan of that specific distro as it is currently the operating system I am running right now. These two very geeky guys got together and built a sensor setup to hook into an exercise bike then they wrote some software for the sole reason that they wanted to make it so you need to pedal the bike in order to access the internet while using this laptop on this bike dubbed the Webcycle. Sounds odd, but just look at the presentation and think to yourself: some people could actually use this as an excuse for their daily exercise routine.
