Tech Tuesday #12: Kind Of An Over Reaction..

Ryo back again, taking time away from gunning down bandits on Borderlands to see what tech goodies I can find today. I think some will enjoy the video I came across, really brings back some memories. You’ll see when you get to it.

Since the internet has been out and about in the public, web addresses have always been Latinized as they call it. A measure was approved to look into introducing certain Chinese and Arabic script as approved characters for a web address, a committee still has to vote on it but the chances are high that they will vote to move forward with it. This of course will require some changes to the internet’s Domain Name System so it can translate the new characters into unique identifiers recognizable to the system. On a related note, I get the feeling many more people are going to make use of on screen keyboards for typing in the future.

I remember back in the 8th grade when I first came across the idea of hydrogen fuel cells. It was in an article in this magazine at my school’s library, the article detailed various things about the potential uses of fuel cells. The number one usage listed: power source for cars. This intrigued me so off and on I would check up on the internet for any new developments hoping to see a news headline of “The Car of The Future” or something along those lines. Fast forward to present day, and once again I see hydrogen fuel cells in the news. This time, put to actual use. Unfortunately not in a car, but in a scooter. Suzuki unveiled its concept design for a new scooter that makes use of the UK designed hydrogen fuel cell. This little thing is said to be capable of going up to 220 miles before needing to stop and get refueled. No word on when this thing will come to the consumer’s market, but later this year some working models will be produced. Just one more step towards that “Car of The Future” if you ask me.

Now, how many of you remember Duck Hunt for the NES? How many of you remember trying to find tricky shots to pull off with mirrors? Alright, now how many of you figured out that holding up a very bright light to the front of the gun and pulling the trigger usually worked in cheating the game? Ignoring that, I choose to discuss the most memorable thing about that game. Yes, that’s right…the dog. Laughing at you from the background when one of those feathered fiends slipped off the screen. Why do I bring this up when it obviously isn’t tech related? Because that dog is evil. I finally have a video to prove my point.
