What happens when you put a game into development Hell for over a decade? Well, it becomes something of a legend and classed as vapor-ware in the community.
I don’t think it is necessary for me to recount the fourteen years it has been since Duke Nukem Forever was announced. We have seen delays and even heard of the game being scrapped multiple times to be rebuilt for a new engine.
All of this is irrelevant now thanks to Gearbox Software. They stepped up to the challenge, despite recent lawsuit over the development of the game with a previous company, and charged into the gauntlet to see what it would take for them to finish this game and put a decade long story to rest.
We have now, the official announcement of a release date and it is fairly soon. May 3rd to be specific. So those of you who have missed Duke over his long and well deserved break from beating the hell out of alien invaders, you don’t have much longer to wait. Check out the trailer below to get a taste of what this game has to offer. As Duke always says, “Hail to the King, baby.”
